We teach leaders that environment drives behavior, and behavior delivers your results. Who creates the environment? Leaders throughout the organization do.
What does it mean to “create the environment”? I gave a talk on this topic a while back, and I want to share a small segment with you. Hopefully it will get you thinking.
This video helps you to dive into this concept of how environment and how it impacts our behavior. I could see you sending this short 5-minute talk to some of your staff of leaders, asking them to watch it, and then discussing it during a meeting as an ice breaker.
Here are some questions you might consider raising to your team:
…how does environment drive the behavior of our front line staff members?
…could we get some different results if we changed that environment?
…what ideas do you have that might help our teams do better?
…how about this team? How could we create a better environment for ourselves?
Changing the workplace culture doesn’t happen overnight, and it certainly doesn’t come from wishful thinking.
